Young people, students and those seeking training and jobs are in the front line when it comes to public spending cuts and there is more to come.
Students are facing a triple whammy. I learned more about this at an NUS breakout meeting I spoke at during the recent ‘A new hope’ conference organised by Compass. Firstly, cuts have been implemented in Higher Education sooner than other areas of public sector spending, and despite the spectacular failure of casino economics a private sector ethos of competition is being promoted as a solution for the future.
